About the Artist & Our Mission
About Esther Mae Phelps
Esther Mae Phelps is a Central Florida encaustic artist who paints with molten beeswax and damar resin. Since discovering the medium in 2012, she’s been captivated by its ebb and flow, layering wax on wood panels, then fusing each layer with heat to create luminous textures that shift with the light. Her work ranges from serene seascapes to expressive botanicals, inspired by the natural world and a deep sense of wonder at creation.
Why Wax for the 16th Anniversary?
The 16th wedding anniversary is traditionally the “wax anniversary.” Wax symbolizes resilience and transformation, qualities at the heart of long-lasting marriages. Esther’s encaustic paintings make meaningful, heirloom-quality gifts that honor this milestone. Each piece captures the story of a shared journey and becomes a daily reminder of love in the home.
